Senior citizens in various “Home for the Aged’’ centers were the beneficiaries of a volunteering program of employees of mall chain SM who provided the elderly with grooming and wellness services.
Julie Miteria, vice-president of SM Supermalls Human Resources Department told Quezon City reporters that the program, dubbed as “Show More Care for the Elderly,’’ was part of the group’s commitment to strengthen the ties with the communities the company serves all over the country.
She added that the employee volunteering program also enhanced the skills of the participants towards community development.
Hundreds of employees from SM Supermalls, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. (SMLEI), SM Family Entertainment, Inc. (FECI) and SM Engineering Design Development Corp. (SMEDD Corp.) participated in the activity.
Miteria said the employee-volunteers visited various senior citizen centers in the local communities where their malls operate, focusing on grooming the elderly and looking after their wellness.
