Marilao, Bulacan — SM Store and SM Foundation celebrated the Chinese New Year with the laying out of three of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects launched last year.
“Last year 2016, was a year of sharing for The SM Store and SM Foundation, we launched three corporate social responsibility projects to help the less fortunate and we will continue starting this Chinese New Year,” said Ms. Gladys May Latiza, public relations manager here.
Latiza identified these three as the “Donate-A-Book,” “Gamot Para sa Kapwa,” and “Share-A-Toy” projects which have given customers the opportunity to make a difference by donating school supplies, hygiene kits, and toys.
She said these were in turn donated to schools, orphanages, hospitals, and day care centers around the country wherein over 5,000 backpacks filled with school supplies were turned over to the Tanza Elementary School and to Llano Elementary School. These heartwarming projects made a lot of children smile.
Gamot Para Sa Kapwa, on the other hand, gave away Sure Aid Hygiene Kits to students of various elementary schools not only here but also in Metro Manila and other provinces, as well as to DWSD.
These included the D. Tuazon Elementary School in Quezon City, Osorio Elementary School in Trece Martires, Cavite, Tungkong Mangga Elementary School in Bulacan, Tayud Elementary School in Cebu and Mambuaya Elementary School in CDO.
The Share-A-Toy project shared joys with children as 88,203 toys were distributed to various hospitals, day care centers, and schools nationwide.
