SM City Clark, the 24th SM Supermall, brings shopping leisure, and entertainment excitement to the dynamic Central Luzon hub as it formally opened its doors to the public yesterday.

Strategically located at a 165,000-square meter property along MA Roxas Avenue in the Clark Special Economic Zone in Angeles City, Pampanga, the 98,256-sqm two-level mall is SM’s second Supermall in the province of  Pampanga. SM City Pampanga in San Fernando’s opening in 2000 was phenomenal, and the mall has since expanded to serve its growing market.

The Clark Special Economic Zone is envisioned to make Clark a world-class logistics hub in Asia, the center for light manufacturing and services, and a place to visit for leisure and entertainment. Its centerpieces the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport,
a 2,500-hectare airport complex – one of the biggest in Asia – with a 3.2-kilometer parallel runways that can be extended further to four kilometers. The airport’s passenger terminal can handle 300 passengers per peak hour or 1.5 million passengers annually.

Growth within the Clark ecozone has been impressive – the Philexel and Betraphil Business Parks have already housed over 40 residing companies or locators. 
The Clark Premier Industrial Park – located within the Industrial Estate 5 is also home to several leading Japanese locators. Clark also offers an array of world-class leisure and recreational facilities such as a championship golf course, residential villas, duty-free shops, leisure parks, and casinos.

The economy of Angeles City, on the other hand, has accelerated in the past decade, driven by advances in communication technology and the finishing of a modern highway that has tremendously improved trade and transport. In a study by the Washington Sycip policy Center and the Asian Institute of Management in 2001, Angeles City was included as one of the preferred cities for business in the country.

Angeles City has many thriving export business in furniture, handicrafts, metal craft, toys, house ware, and garments. Apart from the Clark Special Economic Zone, it also has industrial areas like the Angeles Livelihood Village and the Angeles City Industrial Estate.

With its circular facade and wall cladding in our shades of blue, SM City Clark is an innovation from the traditional SM mall design. It has a grand 16-meter space frame with metal cladded ceiling in its atrium and two clerestories on the left and right wing. Mallers will also love at fresco dining under a tensile roof in its outdoor fountain area.

for customer convenience, the mall also has terminal, as well as an elevated covered walkway with escalators to Bayanihan Park. It also has 2,667 open parking slots.

Shopping fun at SM City begins with the SM Department Store and Hypermarket and SM mainstays like Our Home, SM Appliance Center ACE Hardware, Watsons, and the Surplus Shop, as well as fashion boutiques, home stores, jewelry stores, shoe stores, and
novelty stores. It will also have computer stores Internet cafes, and telecom stores for the cyber generation.

Pampanguenos, who are known for their love of good food, can choose from an array of eating out options. These include the SM Food Court, where one can get good food fast, international and local fast food chains, and specialty restaurants. The mall will also have six state-of-the-art cinemas with total of 3,600 seats as well as a large performance and exhibition space.
