The public and private sectors joined hands in promoting the use of ecobags in this city as part of the local government’s “No Plastics“ advocacy launched at the Events Center of SM City, here, yesterday.
In her speech at the event, Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga recognized the mall’s initiatives to support the campaign to enforce the Solid Waste Management Act and promote environment-friendly practices.
SM City Public Relations Manager Lilibeth Azores said the theme of the event was “Enhance the Change.“
It was aimed at augmenting the government’s awareness campaign by engaging mall-goers and enticing them to use four fashionable eco-bags instead of rely on plastic bags at the payment counters.
Officials of the city government and provincial environment agencies came out to support the initiatives of SM to provide non-plastic and nontoxic bags in its establishment.
The eco-bags were presented to the public modeled by some local models in this city, local officials led by Talaga, students, media and government officials.
