Cagayan de Oro City (30 January) — THE SM-Cebu management offered a free space for Tangub City to showcase the costumes of the Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe used in Sinulog Festival since the troupe started joining the annual event.

City Tourism Officer Baby Paller revealed that the area located at the north wing of SM-Cebu called as the ‘Dancing Pilgrims of Sinanduloy in Tangub City,’ showcased the Sinanduloy costumes from year 2000 up to 2009.

Added attraction was the seven dolls wearing the Sinanduloy costumes which were made by the makers of dolls in Paranaque City.

Paller added that aside from the free space given to Tangub, which costs P150,000 a day but given free to Sinanduloy, the SM management also provided the mannequins and a big television screen for the visitors to know and see more about Tangub via video presentations.

The 11-day exhibit of the Sinanduloy costumes that opened last January 9 and ended on January 19 helped promote not just Tangub City, but Mindanao as well, particularly Misamis Occidental.

There were more than 1,000 guests who visited the exhibit per record in the registration book, most of whom were foreigners.

One Korean national wanted to buy one of the costumes which costs P9,000 to add to her collection, but was not able to because she was in a hurry and the Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe officials had to be consulted first if it’s up for sale, Paller explained.

SM-Cebu also offered a one-hour show for the Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe last January 16 at the entertainment area that featured the Sinanduloy All-Star Band, Sinanduloy dancers, singers and instrumentalists.

The Cebuanos were amazed by the talents shown by the group.
