THE Autism Society of the Philippines (ASP), together with the SM Cares Program on Disability Affairs celebrates the 17th Autism  Consciousness Week with Angels Walk for Autism themed ‘Autismo Alamin: Pagtanggap at Pag-unawa Palaganapin’ on Jan. 20, 2013 at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia from 8am to 1pm.

The Angels Walk for Autism started in 2007 as the kick-off activity for the National Autism Consciousness Week celebration mandated by Presidential Proclamation 711 signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos to increase the public’s’ awareness on autism and for the provision of programs and services for person with autism.

The walk serves as a venue to showcase the talents of persons with autism and to advocate for the realization of the rights and welfare of persons with autism and their families.

This annual event is celebrated in partnership with the Autism Society Philippines.

Every year an awareness event is mounted in celebration of the Autism Consciousness Week, and this Is supported by organizations from the various private sectors and the government. Activities like this provide an opportunity to break barriers for our communities to have a better understanding and appreciation on the needs of the differently abled members of society.

SM always ensured that each of the malls addresses the challenges and provides sufficient accessibility for PWDs, and with this, has earned the distinction of the most PWD-friendly mall in the country.
