NOT even the rains could stop shoppers from making a stop at SM Center Las Pinas when it opened its doors to the public. When SM Supermarket president Herbert Sy opened its doors to the first wave of customers – as is the SM tradition – customers quickly packed the mall, filling its stores and restaurants.

Located at a prime 28,600-sqm property in Barangay Talon in Pamplona, Las Pinas, the 34,000-sqm SM Center Las Pinas is SM’s 35th supermall and the second in the Las Pinas area. The first, SM Southmall. which opened in 1995, is located in the eastem section; while SM Center Las Pinas serves customers in the western section of this bustling city as well as in the nearby provinces of Laguna and Cavite.

A simple blessing was held the day before with a concelebrated Mass led by Bishop Jesse Mercado of the Diocese of Paranaque. A ribbon cutting ceremony graced by Mayora Imelda Aguilar, wife of Las Pinas Mayor Nene Aguilar, Las Pinas Vice Mayor Henry Medina, Mark Villar, and Bishop Jesse Mercado followed. Felicidad Sy, SM Supermarket president Herbert Sy, and Hans Christian Sy joined them.

SM founder and chairman Henry Sy Sr. and SM Investments vice chairman Tessie Sy-Coson, also graced the event, and welcomed guests including Rep. Cynthia Villar.

SM Center Las Pinas brings new design elements in its interiors dazzling geometric floor patterns, leaf motifs on curved ceiling blades, and clean and simple lines at the shop fronts. Storefronts are framed with metal channels and integrated sign age zones providing a strong frame work for merchants to apply their unique identities to stand out in the crowd.

The new community mall has SM Hypermarket as its anchor to serve growing families in the area Drawn from a European-inspired concept, SM Hypermarket is known for bringing the wet market experience to the mall with produce, seafood, meat, and poultry products brought straight from the source in its Hyper Fresh section. The hypermarket’s Hyper Grocer, Hyper Fashion, Hyper Living, and Hyper Service sections complete the shopping experience.

It will also has SM mainstays like ACE Hardware, Watsons, shops, restaurants, and banking services through BDO to serve shoppers. For customer convenience, it has an open parking area, a covered car park for 5,479 slots, provisions for 50 slots, and a jeepney terminal.
