BALIWAG CITY, Bulacan—SM City Baliwag will launch on Monday its own Automated Weather Station (AWS).
Bev Cruz, press relation officer of SM City Baliwag, said the installation of AWS is SM’s initiative to promote disaster-resilient and -sustainable businesses in the locality.
Cruz said SM Supermalls has partnered with the Weather Philippines Foundation for the installation of AWS in the mall to help in monitoring weather conditions in the city to make their business partners—tenants and mall goers—informed and prepared for any change in weather situations.
The AWS can provide the current and forecasted details on the weather conditions such as the temperature, amount of rain, humidity, dew point (which is the temperature when air turns into water), and wind speed and direction.
Knowledge of these details can help provide business establishment owners, as well as academic institutions officials, decide on how to run their operations whenever a sudden change in weather condition occurs.
Cruz explained that these details can be viewed by visiting www.weather.com.ph, entering SM City Baliwag in the search bar, and selecting the mall in the results list or on the map. Current and forecasted five-day weather conditions can be seen there,
She added that during the launch, different topics about AWS will be discussed that include its benefits in the community, importance of monitoring your local weather and a demonstration of how to use the system.
