MANILA, Philippines – Shoppers in the North Metro area can now enjoy SM’s shopping, leisure, and entertainment excitement closer to home with the opening of SM City Novaliches last Friday, Oct. 22.

SM City Novaliches is SM Prime Holdings’s 40th mall and its fourth in Quezon City after SM City North-EDSA, SM City Sta Mesa, and SM City Fairview.Located on a 71,665-sqm property along Quirino Avenue, the 60,333-sqm mall will serve shoppers in Quezon City’s populated second district as well as residents of nearby areas like Valenzuela, Caloocan, San Jose del Monte, Northern Meycauayan in Bulacan and some parts of Rizal province.

With its contemporary design – high ceilings at the center atrium and glass windows at the Food Court – the mall is envisioned to be a major destination to those living and working around the area. A mix of earth colors – soft green shades with beige and brown tones – highlight the mall, which like the rest of new SM malls has been designed with green architectural principles in mind like natural lighting.

The mall will have SM Department Store and SM Supermarket as its main anchors together with SM mainstays like the Appliance Center, ACE Hardware, Watsons, and BDO. It will also have over 100 tenants including fashion boutiques, home stores, health and wellness stores, bookstores, and novelty stores. There will be a Cyberzone for the techie generation, as well as service-oriented stores.

Eating out options include good food that’s fast at the SM Food Court, as well as popular local and international fast food chains and specialty restaurants. Residents in the area can enjoy homegrown hits and Hollywood blockbusters in the mall’s four state-of-the-art cinemas with a total seating capacity of 1,800.Novaliches is the largest district in Quezon City, having shared boundaries with two sections of Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan, and Montalban City.

The oldest part of the city is Novaliches Bayan, the town center; and its population growth started when the National Housing Authority started projects on the outskirts of Novaliches and the Government Service Insurance System began housing projects in the area.Novaliches is booming with 87 residential subdivisions, 56 industrial companies, 28 schools, two hospitals, and four major churches around SM City Novaliches.

It is estimated that about 15,000 OFWs are from the area. TV5 is located just across the mall.Getting to the mall, which is 2.3 kilometers from Mindanao Avenue and 4 kilometers from Tandang Sora Avenue, is easy – as public transportation facilities like buses, jeepneys, and FX tricycles ply the route.

Those with private cars, on the other hand, will find it convenient and accessible with the improvements in traversing major thoroughfares, and the recently opened NLEX exit in Mindanao Avenue.Ample parking is provided for over 1,000 vehicles, while a public transport terminal will serve up to 40 routes for commuters.

SM City Novaliches’s design team includes Design Associates, mall designer; Jose Siao Ling and Associates, Architect of Record; DA Abcede and Associates, project Manager; and Monolith Construction Development Corporation, general contractor.
