Visitors in the Cubao area will be amazed at the transformation of the SM store in Araneta Center. The grey box-like building, which had been undergoing renovation during the past several moths, has become a dazzling modern structure that redefines the standards of shopping in this busting urban area.

The 102,354 sqm superstore, which includes the SM Department Store, Supermarket, a Cyberzone, as well as retail, food, and service outlets, mixes great design and great retail. Exteriors of the entire building have been revitalized with a combination of crisp colors and materials, carefully proportioned and detailed for a modern appearance.

At the center of it all is the three-level SM Department Store, which welcomes customers with its grand atrium areas filled and lit with a frozen shower of LED lights. The ceiling connecting the two atriums is painted with pinstripes, where grey and white stripes mix with bright colors to create excitement, not distraction. With the ceiling wrapping around the two atriums into the vertical surfaces, the space mixes reality, dreams, and of course, retail.

The design team also used interesting patterns and exciting colors throughout the department store, creating a journey of elegance and surprise to loyal customers, as well as to new shoppers.

The entire store is wallpapered with colors and patterns – mostly stripes – in the floors, walls, ceilings that transform according to the merchandise categories. Even before reading the directional signs, the customers are drawn to their target categories by just sensing the color changes: Blue for men, pink and lavenders anchoring the intimate apparel department, among others.
Fashion presentations are also easy to view from the aisle to the back wall, putting customers at ease while shopping since they don’t feel they are missing anything.

The newly revitalized SM Cubao at the Araneta Center showcases SM as a Fashion Store with two levels of the latest trends in clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories for men, women, teens, tweens, and children.

New innovations in store design go hand in hand with exciting new ways to serve customers at SM Cubao in Araneta Center.
