SM SUPUPERMALLS YESTERDAY Unveiled the new SM Supermalls Green Bag as part of its efforts to become a model corporate citizen.
Launched-under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaign called SM Cares, the SM Supermalls Green Bag enables shoppers to participate in the global cause to reduce the use of non-biodegradable plastic shopping bags.
Made from polypropylene material, the SM Supermalls Green Bag is recyclable and nontoxic.
The Green Bag’s size is equivalent to two regular shopping bags and can last for two years.
Last year, SM Supermarkets and Unilever partnered to launch the SM Green Bag in all SM supermarkets and hypermarkets.
This year’s introduction of the SM Supermalls Green Bag extends to a greater number of shoppers.
This time, the Green Bag will be available to mall goers in four different exclusive designs by world-renowned artist Manuel Baldemor – taking shopping into, a higher level with social responsibility and style rolled into one.
“I am very happy, honored and proud to have partnered with SM Supermalls to exclusively design the new SM Supermalls Green Bag. This initiative is parallel to my personal advocacy for the environment,’ says Baldemor.
SM shoppers may get a Baldemor collectible SM Supermalls Green Bag for only P35 with every P500 single or accumulated receipt purchase and/or any proof of purchase at any SM Supermalls establishment.
For every sale of the new SM Supermalls Green Bag, a peso goes to a charitable institution advocating a better environment for all.
The new Green Bags are available at the Event Center Greenberg Booth in all SM Supermalls nationwide from Jan. 16, 2009 to April 30, 2009.
The use of the SM Supermalls Green Bags also has its perks. SM Advantage cardholders are automatically entitled to two points upon presentation of their SM Advantage card if they use the new SM Supermalls Green Bag at any SM Supermarket and/or Hypermarket.
‘We are taking SM Supermalls to greater heights as we bring the SM Supermall Green Bag not just to our supermarket customers but now to our valued shoppers in all SM Supermalls all over the country. Today, we give shopping a new dimension. It is now Eco-shopping with a purpose,’ says Annie Garcia, president, Shopping Center Management Corp.
This year’s launch of the SM Supermalls Green Bag is a celebration of the environment, attended by top executive of SM and Unilever, a staunch support of the SM Green Bag initiative. Government representatives, nongovernmental organizations, SM’s business partners and the media were also present during the event.
