The three-month training course that commenced last February aimed to provide a sustainable livelihood program to marginalized farmers, with once a week session which entails both classroom briefings on technology and actual field application.

During the graduation ceremony, SM Foundation Inc. Asst. Vice President Cristie Angeles expressed her gratitude to the “kulots” and the “unats”, “nakakatuwa kasi unti-unti mabubuksan  ang isipan na dapat pangalagaan ang kalikasan at sa pag aalaga nito magbibigay ng mas maraming pagkain sa kanila at the same time combined with modern technology magkakaroon sila ng mas sustainable na pagkakakitaan.”

After the harvest Festival and Graduation, farmers had the chance to sell their produce products at the mall at a discounted price.

SM Foundation helps to alleviate the lives of farmers by continuously producing harvest even after graduation. The vast area of Sitio Bangka Tralala is suitable for the project because of its soil fertility and effective irrigation system.

Through SM Foundation’s KSK training program more and more farmers are equipped with the modern agri technology. To date, SM City Olongapo is the 40th batch and 4,200 farmers have graduated from the training program since it started last 2007 in Bacolod City.

This project has been made possible with the help of Harbest Agribusiness Corporation President Arsenio “toto” Barcelona, Agri trainors Dominador Reantazo,Kemmy Lindo and Mark Ariola, City Agriculture Office headed by Jhobal Sebarrotin, Office of the City Mayor, Barangay Gordon Heights Chairman Jose Tomas Madria and all the volunteers and residents of Sitio Bangka.
