SM City Cagayan de Oro will join the “I will if you will” campaign for Earth Hour 2012 on March 31 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Earth Hour is a global initiative where individuals, businesses and communities are invited to turn off their lights for one hour on Saturday to show support for environmentally sustainable action.

The event began in Sydney in 2007 when two million people switched off their lights.

By 2011, Earth Hour was being reported as “the world’s largest campaign for the planet” with over 135 countries and territories participating in the celebration across every continent, including the world’s most recognized man-made marvels and natural wonders in a landmark display of environmental action.

At SM City Cagayan de Oro, the activity will begin with live band performances at 7 p.m., global Earth Hour video showing at 8 p.m. and ceremonial switch-off at 8:30 p.m. and another hour of performances for Mother Earth. (PR)
