09/19/2014 7:28 PM, MANILA, Philippines – SM Supermalls on Friday announced that it will be offering free overnight parking in its malls in areas where there is severe flooding caused by tropical storm “Mario.”
SM posted the announcement on its social media accounts, saying overnight parking charges are waived for those who are stranded due to the floods.
“In times of calamities, our malls offer temporary respite and a meeting point for families who may be unable to get to their place of residence. In the areas where severe flooding is experienced, we provide parking spaces for the residents. Overnight charges are waived,” the company said.
SM earlier said it remained open for business on Friday despite heavy rains and flooding in Metro Manila.
In a statement, SM Supermalls senior vice president Steven Tan said the mall operator is monitoring the situation in affected areas.
“Our malls will open in public service to our immediate communities,” Tan said,
