CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—SM City Pampanga, one of the largest malls of the Sy family in North and Central Luzon, is eyeing the construction of new buildings and facilities at its 31.6-hectare property at the boundary of this city and Mexico town.

SM Regional Operations Manager Rheybie Nipas said this when interviewed at the launch of the “Smurftastic Christmas” on Friday.

Nipas said expansion will be near the portion of their property adjacent to the North Luzon Expressway. He has yet to give the amount or the size of the expansion.

“We are still in the planning session,” Nipas said. There are more than 440 concept stores, kiosks and booths in the mall, which will celebrate the mall’s 13th anniversary this month.

Nipas said the expansion is  “a way of giving back to the great customers from Pampanga.” Nipas made the annoucement near the completion of the multimillion-peso expansion of SM City Clark in Angeles City.

Nipas hosted Gov. Lilia Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis Pineda at the grand Christmas launch of the SM Pampanga.  He was with Bien Mateo, SM Supermalls vice president of operations.

In her speech, Lilia thanked the SM management “for continuously doing business in Pampanga.”

She joined Dennis, Nipas, Mateo, SM Pampanga Mall Manager Junias Eusebio, SM Pampanga Assistant mall Managers Anna Liza Carino and Mark Herrera, and other provincial officials in watching the veteran singing group The CompanY, who performed at the culmination of the launch.

Children of the Austism Society of the Philippines-Pampanga, led by its president, Joy Ofrecia, were given gifts and treated during the launch featuring the popular Smurfs television characters at the SM Pampanga.  At the SM City Clark, Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting led the launch of the mall’s version of the  “Smurftastic Christmas” on Sunday night.

SM City Clark Mall Manager Ana Datu welcomed the guests at the launch in the mall near the main gate of the Clark Freeport.

The SM City San Fernando Downtown, the newest mall of SM in Pampanga, launched its “Smurftastic Christmas” on Monday.
