SM Prime Holdings Inc., the country’s largest property developer, said Thursday it will start the construction of two new hotels under the midscale brand Park Inn by Radisson this year.

SM Prime said in a regulatory filing it would build the 175-room Park Inn by Radisson Mall of Asia in Pasay City and 150-room Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo within the year.

Construction of the two new hotels will bring SM Prime’s hotel projects to eight.  The company has a total of 1,019 rooms housed in the 261-room Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay City; the 400-room upscale Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu; the 154-room Pico Sands Hotel in Hamilo Coast; and the 204-room Park Inn by Radisson in Davao, situated beside SM Lanang Premier Mall and the SMX Convention Center.

Two more hotels are under construction, including Conrad Hotel Manila and Park Inn by Radisson Clark.

The 347-room Conrad Hotel Manila is located within the 60-hectare Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. The five-star hotel, which will be the first Conrad Hotels & Resorts branded property in the Philippines, will have three ballrooms and other function and meeting rooms as well as fitness club and spa.

Park Inn Radisson Clark is adjacent to SM Clark and will offer 150 rooms.

SM group earlier signed a deal with global hotel management group Carlson Rezidor to manage the property firms’ hotel projects.

Park Inn by Radisson is Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group’s bright, bold and fresh full-service mid-market global brand with 126 hotels throughout the world and 53 hotels under development.
