SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SMPH.PH) Friday said it has offered to finance the construction of a light rail transit station near one of its biggest malls in the capital Manila.
An electric train system carrying around 500,000 passengers daily traverses a major thoroughfare in the capital where two of SM Prime’s malls are located. One of the malls already have a train station beside it.
‘We would like to confirm that SM Prime is currently in negotiations with the Light Rail Transit Authority for the construction of an additional station in the LRT-1 North Extension Project,’ SM Prime told the stock exchange in a disclosure.
The disclosure was made after the Manila Times newspaper Thursday cited an LRTA official as saying that SM Prime offered to fund the additional station, which will be built at a cost of PHP100 million.
