When SM Supercenter Muntinlupa opens its doors on Friday, Nov. 15, it will not only bring great shopping, leisure, and entertainment to the south Metro area, but also mark a milestone as SM Prime Holdings’ 30th supermall.
Located on a 37,000 sqm property in Barangay Putatan in Muntinlupa City, the two-level 54,000 sqm supermall will serve customers in bustling Muntinlupa City, as well as nearby towns in Laguna province.
The city serves as a major transit point in the southern part of the metropolis. Barangay Putatan, where the mall is located, is a predominantly residential area with subdivisions occupying over 60 percent of the land area with some commercial establishments around the subdivisions.
Another nearby barangay, Tunasan, is home to some of the biggest industrial firms in Muntinlupa City. Residential communities are spread over the barangay.
It will also serve customers in San Pedro, the northernmost town in Laguna, and the first Laguna town to be fully urbanized. A total of 113 subdivisions and villages have sprouted since the early 1970s with most residents belonging to the middle market.
With its eye-catching design and great shopping and fun options, SM City Muntinlupa is envisioned to be one of the major destinations in the area. Its blue and yellow facade makes it stand out, while the interiors play on colors and light, making malling cozy and fun.
It has the SM Hypermarket as its major anchor. Hypermarkets are a European concept merging food and non-food merchandise in a one-stop shop. Known for its fresh section, exciting concepts like the takal takal, and promotions like Shop n Win, the SM Hypermarket has changed the way Filipino homemakers shop.
The mall will also have other SM mainstays like the SM Appliance Center, ACE Hardware, and Watsons. There’s also a lot of shopping fun with fashion boutiques like Bench, Dickies, Human, Folded n Hung, Osh Kosh b’ Gosh, Shapes, and Penshoppe; as well as specialty stores like Aksesoriz Fashion House, jewelry stores like Unisilver, optical shops like Executive Optical, and sports shops like Tribu.
Interestingly enough, it also has a school, Kevin’s Library, as well as book and office supplies stores like National Bookstore, Booksale, and Office Warehouse. Techies will have a great time around the mall’s telecom stores, computer stores, and audio video outlets.
There are also a lot of eating-out options in the mall. The SM Food Court offers good food in outlets like Chicken Company, Sizzling Plate, Inihaw Express, Mary Jane’s Mealchow, Kusina ni Gracia, Lydia’s Lechon, Tita You’s Binalot, Megamelt, and Juice Avenue.
It also has some of the country’s top food chains like Jollibee, McDonald’s, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Shakey’s, Tokyo Tokyo, and Goldilocks.
SM Supercenter Muntinlupa will also have four deluxe cinemas and the Quantum Amusement Center for fun around the mall.
Shoppers will be delighted with the mall’s service outlets – banks; salons like Bench Fix, David’s, Ricky Reyes; skin care service like Forever Flawless and Let’s Face It; as well as medical and dental service.
It also has an A-1 Driving School, Mr. Quickie repair services, Southern Sky Travel and Tours, an Everyday Laundry, photography services, as well as courier services like DHL and Mail and More.
The building’s design team includes Design Associates, the mall designer; G&W Associates, the architect of record; DA Abcede Associates; and DDT Konstruct, Inc., general contractor.
