SM Malls in China will be seeing a new line of ecobags from SM Supermalls as part of the company’s pledge to protect and preserve the environment, the company said Wednesday.

‘We will be launching the new line of trendy ecobags in China before the year ends. We are bringing our eco-sustainability practices to our malls in China,’ SM Supermalls president Annie Garcia said Wednesday at the sidelines of the SM EcoBags launch in Mandaluyong City.

SM operates malls in Xiamen and Chengdu, with another about to open in Suzhou.

Garcia added that sales proceeds will fund projects to help save the environment. SM Prime, which operates SM Malls, is helping rehabilitate rivers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The ecobags are a result of SM Suppermalls’ two-year partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, in which SM signed a memorandum of understanding that specified SM’s support of the United Nations’ International Year of Forests. — BC/VS, GMA News
