SM City Cebu, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD-7) treated the children to fun games, environmental movie showing and snacks as it culminated the Children’s Month celebration last Oct. 27 at the SM Event Centre.

SM City Cebu recognizes the role of the youth in nation-building and promotes and protects their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual and social well-being.

The culminating activity was hosted by DSWD-7 public information officer Jaybee Binghay.

The children were given an orientation on the roles of a security officer, a nurse and SM Supermarket customer service.

They were also taught how to pay respect to the elders.

As part of the mall’s green initiative, the children watched “Project Noel,” an environmental advocacy film that aims to spread the value of recycling and love for Mother Earth. Storyland mascots entertained the children with dances and photo opportunities.

In order to effectively protect and consistently ensure the safety of children as well as understand their needs and rights, the SM Supermalls Children’s Council and Breastfeeding Committee, together with the United Nations Children’s Fund, DSWD, Philippine National Police and the Council for Welfare of Children, conducted a re-orientation program called “A Kid’SMall: Caring for Children,” for around 7,000 personnel, which included SM Mall managers, employees, tenants, security guards and janitorial personnel across SM Malls nationwide.
