MULTI-PURPOSE events venue SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena is hoping to attract a number of Cebuano guests to watch upcoming events held in its facilities.

MOA Arena marketing head Allan Florendo told reporters the construction of the MOA Arena is meant to provide Filipinos a venue for world-class entertainment.

“This is not only meant for Filipinos living in Metro Manila but for everyone. We are even expecting guests from Cebu to visit our facility and watch various events slated for the year,” Florendo said at the sidelines of MOA Arena’s grand launch last Saturday.

Among the upcoming events at the MOA Arena are the Nicki Minaj Pink Friday Concert on July 11; NBA All Star Basketball Challenge on July 18; and Cirque du Soleil’s Saltimbanco from Aug. 8 to 19.

The newly-built MOA Arena by the SM Group is positioned as one of the most high-tech events venues in Asia.

“The distinctive eye-shaped façade symbolizes the MOA Arena’s promise of delivering top-notch entertainment to its audience. It seeks to channel the message that every single event to be held in its premises will surely be a feast for the eyes,” said

Arquitectonica’s David Zaballero, the MOA Arena’s Project director.

The Arena is the latest attraction in the MOA Complex. It is a five-storey structure that has a gross floor area of 64,085 square meters that can accommodate a seating capacity of 15,000 and a full capacity of 20,000 people. It also has 2,000 car park slots at the south side of the mall.

The Arena was chosen as venue of the recently held Lady Gaga show and the joint concert of boy bands New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys.

Designed for concerts and basketball games, the MOA Arena can also be configured for boxing, theater, fashion and ice-skating shows.

To comply with international standards, the facility has four dug-outs, a mess hall for an event’s technical team, a room for press conferences, and a meet and greet area.

The MOA Arena also boasts of having a total of 41 corporate suites, of which 10 suites can be rented on a per event basis.

Some world-class Filipino talents attended the facility’s grand launching last Saturday through a music event dubbed as “Icons at the MOA Arena.”

“We are very happy to be here at this landmark occasion at the MOA Arena, which is a testament to the Filipino people and its spirit—resilient and persevering in the pursuit of excellence. Through the MOA Arena, we hope to give Filipinos a taste of world-class entertainment in a truly innovative and luxurious setting,” said SM Prime Holdings Inc. president Hans Sy.

He said his family was very involved in the details of the MOA Arena’s construction.
