The SMX Convention Center has been officially inducted as a new member of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the premier network for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

During the ICCA Members’ Networking Lunch at the 2009 Incentive Travel and Conventions, Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) held in Bangkok, Thailand, ICCA’s newly-appointed Asia Pacific Regional Director Noor Ahmad Hamid personally welcomed the SMX Convention Center, represented by Director of Sales Charry Casabar, to the association.

Founded in Paris in 1963 by a group of travel agents, ICCA today has expanded its reach to over 850 MICE companies and suppliers in 85 countries worldwide. It is the only association that brings together specialists in the different aspects of event handling and accommodation.

According to Dexter Deyto, General Manager of the SMX Convention Center, the move to join ICCA is part of SMX’s efforts to offer the facility and the Philippines as a convention destination to the global market for high-profile international events.
