DAVAO CITY — Sony Ericsson launched here, along with SM City Davao, its campaign to support the United Nations’ Children’s Fund’s (UNICEF) mobile education and child protection program for street children.
The telecommunication company donated P1 million for the mobile education van, equipped with a laptop and mobile broadband access, to help street children who have no access to school learn how to read, compute and write.
Sony Ericsson marketing manager Patrick S. Larraga said the decision to help UNICEF’s education project is part of the company’s ‘I-share ang Saya’ program to spread smiles for children across the country. A portion of sales from mobile phones sold will fund the project.
‘The mobile van will go to areas where the kids are,’ he said.
Debbie A. Go, SM head of Mindanao operations, said SM City Davao will place donation bins throughout the mall.
