PICTURES paint a thousand words and in the case of Cebu City Images Camera Club, a photography club in Cebu, it is through pictures that it communicates love and passion for photography by taking snapshots of breathtaking wonderful creations on Earth.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary, Images Camera Club, in partnership with Fujifilm Philippines and SM Prime Holdings Inc., opened a photo exhibit in The Northwing, SM City Cebu, entitled Travel The World with Images last Oct. 27. The exhibit featured 50 images taken from different places all over the world by its members who are well-known photographers of Cebu.

These photographs were meticulously chosen and handpicked by the board members of Images and Marissa Fernan, vice president of SM Prime Holdings Inc.

“In Images, we like to travel either domestically or internationally. In this particular case, SM preferred to showcase more of international travel because it’s in line with the theme of its travel show. We picked the pictures together with Marissa Fernan. The selections are magnificent,” shared Gordon Alan Joseph, president of Images.

Featuring only landscape photography for its anniversary exhibit, Joseph shared that the club will continue to have an exhibit in Ayala Center Cebu by December which will showcase the best of the best photographs of the club. And after that exhibit, an e-book of its award-winning photographs will be launched. The book is aptly dubbed The Best of Images.

As one of the oldest photography clubs existing until today and having been recently awarded as the Best Camera Club last year by the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, Images Camera Club admitted that one of the things that contribute to the success of the club is the camaraderie and the shared passion for photography among its members. Membership to the club is a process that is not for everyone who wishes to join. “We only open a very few slots for membership every year. It’s not that we’re exclusive. It’s just that the bigger a club gets, the harder the personalities. So we try to bring in people who fit the culture of the club; that kind of culture that creates great work, the culture to constantly try to excel, to move, to work at it. Everyone who goes through the club has to undergo a one-year probationary period. To a certain extent it’s like getting a job, because you don’t want to bring in people who don’t get involved in the club activities,” added Joseph.
