AN EXHIBIT of the critically-acclaimed indie film “Ma’Rosa” of multi-awarded director Brillante Mendoza now runs in SM Lanang Premier.
 
Launched on June 22 with Mendoza and Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Jaclyn Jose and Andi Eigenmann and Davao City Councilor Mabel Acosta, together with SM Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications Millie Dizon, the exhibit will run until the second week of July at the 2nd Level, Cinema Hallway of the mall.
 
During its launch, which happened a day after its premiere at SM City Davao, the guests were warmly welcomed by SM Lanang Premier Assistant Mall Manager Junjie Crisante.
 
By visiting the “Ma’ Rosa” exhibit, mall-goers will get the chance to witness the cast’s journey and red carpet experience in Cannes, and get a glimpse of stills from the highly-anticipated independent movie, which was nominated for the “Palme d’Or” category of the international film festival.
 
Meanwhile, during a press conference on June 21 at SM City Davao for “Ma’ Rosa’s” premiere here, Mendoza admitted that they did not religiously follow a script as they executed each scene.
Amid this scenario, though, its lead star, Jose, had no qualms about it.
 
“I’m open to working na walang script basta it would be with someone like Brillante Mendoza,” the first-ever Southeast Asian actress to bring home the Best Actress trophy of Cannes revealed.
 
Based on the director’s treatment of the film, “Ma’ Rosa shows us a glimpse of a Filipino family set on a typical district in Manila, giving us a slice of life in a community. The whole film was treated like a documentary film with a strong feel of realism, using found objects and locations in production design.”
