SM CITY Baguio celebrates the 33rd National Children’s Book Reading Day to commemorate the classic publication of Dr. Jose Rizal “Ang Pagong at ang Matsing” which is being celebrated every third Tuesday of July.

SM Supermalls’ Corporate Social Responsibility program, SM Cares, through the SM Committee on Youth and Children’s Welfare yearly celebrates this festivity to inspire the young for love of reading and love for books. This event is part of SM Cares’ Program for Children that takes an advocacy of promoting literacy and encourage children to develop their love for reading at an early age.

The mall has been committed in becoming a venue for learning and a medium for imparting knowledge to the children. SM Supermalls promotes and prioritizes the children’s rights and their safety and enhancing their learning experience in a child friendly environment.

For SM City Baguio, the story reading session features three children’s books entitled, “Ang Sabi ni Nanay, Ang Sabi ni Tatay”, “Marne Marino” and “Binibining Bettina Bote”. The stories were read by CJ Feria, SM Employee for Marne Marino; Ang Sabi ni Nanay, Ang Sabi Ni Tatay, Edong Carta of Z-Radio and Rhyza Litaoen, Ms. La Trinidad 2015 for Binibining Bettina Bote.

Aside from story reading session, students from Quezon Elementary School were also delighted with the books which they received from Vibal Publishing, UNICEF and school kits from National Book Store.

Annually, SM Supermalls celebrate National Children’s Book Reading Day as part of its campaign to instill good values in the hearts of children and widen their imagination to enhance creativity and intelligence.
