This year’s Earth Hour is set on March 25, with the Filipino youth leading the worldwide campaign.

Everyone is encouraged to turn off their lights for an hour, from 8:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. as a symbolic action to raise awareness about the threats of climate change.

Since the campaign was launched in Australia in 2007, the Philippines has been consistently at the forefront of the campaign and was dubbed as an Earth Hour champion for several years.

The World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines, the organizer of Earth Hour in the Philippines, encourages participants to join the event which has the theme “This Earth Hour, Shine a Light on Climate Action”.

Through the use of social media, participants can tweet or post their best photos on that day, along with official hashtags #EarthHourPH2017 and #ChangeClimateChange.

On March 25, NYC members will lead an Earth Hour Camp that will feature interactive climate adaptation and mitigation booths at the Mall of Asia Complex from 4 p.m.
