Unique personality: Fruit designed sweater, skirt and flat ghillies by Joseph
There’s a lot of excitement for British brand Joseph as the holidays approach: the launch of its AW 2016 collection; as well as the opening of its second store in the Philippines, located in the exclusive S Maison at Conrad Manila.
Following the successful opening of Joseph in SM Aura Premier mall in late 2014, Joseph continues its global expansion with a second store opening. Joseph Conrad will launch with the autumn/winter 2016 collection, as seen on-schedule at London Fashion Week, and offer a wide assortment of Joseph Women’s ready-to-wear collections.
The new store extends over 150 square meters and is in line with the global store design concept. Situated within a modern, eight-story structure, the new S Maison complex also houses three state-of-the-art cinemas, a host of gourmet restaurants — including a sky-deck eatery — and a luxurious spa.
Joseph at Conrad Manila will be a reflection of the British brand’s core sensibilities. Designed with Sybarite Architects, the store demonstrates a subtlety for the collection on display, enhancing the Joseph aesthetic. Clean lines, contrasting furnishings and a monochromatic color palette are used to tie in with the brand values, contrasting marble and glass work alongside softer elements such as leather and felt.
The new store is a perfect venue to showcase Joseph’s AW 16 collection, in which personalization and customization bring a new energy and individuality. This idiosyncratic character personifies the anti-conformist look.
Motifs of freedom — a bird, an eye, a hand — are knitted into sweaters. Badges and patches are collected and sewn randomly onto garments — a stamp of unique personality. Pieces are layered: patent leather corsets are fastened oddly over shaved shearling jackets. British-made jacquards are cut on the reverse to expose floating threads. Unexpected details run through the collection: knitwear is over-sewn with heavy yarn; garments are turned inside out to expose raw seams; trousers are laced up. Buttons are intentionally mismatched: the sign of a true eclectic.
Joseph is located at L1 of SM Aura Premier, and L1, S Maison at the Conrad Hotel.
