BDO Foundation recently launched the community-building volunteerism activity in Cagayan de Oro City for its SM-BDOF Resettlement Site for Typhoon Sendong victims in Barangay Canitoan. The first batch of community builders consisted of 36 officers and staff from six BDO branches in Cagayan de Oro City. They were mobilized and took part in providing manpower support in the said housing project by painting the houses during their free time.

SM-BDOF Resettlement Site is so far the biggest housing project of BDO Foundation. In partnership with SM Prime Holdings Inc., the project fl:mded 300 housing units for a total of P33 million, P22 million of which came from SM Prime Holdings and P11 million from BDO Foundation.

BDO Foundation funds for the-construction of 100 houses came from BDO, the SHARE gift check program and clients and friends of BDO who donated in the disaster response fund for Sendong victims of the foundation.

Barangay Canitoan site has an area of approximately 2.5 hectares that is owned by the city government. This project is also in partnership with Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, CDO LGU,NHA, DSWD, DENR and DPWH. Turnover is scheduled before the year ends.
