SM cements its commitment to safeguarding the country’s culture and heritage through two landmark partnerships entered with the National Museum and National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

Under both partnerships, SM leverages its promotional resources, nationwide mall network, and high foot-traffic spaces to support awareness and accessibility campaigns for these government arms. Enriching its advocacy of curating spaces for reading and learning within its malls, SM through the Book Nook project of its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, SM Cares, formalized a heritage book support initiative with the NHCP. Because of the partnership, Filipino readers and learners can visit their nearest Book Nook at their most-loved SM Supermall and access a curated selection of history books from the NHCP’s collection.

Additionally, through a Memorandum of Agreement, SM Group through SMDC will be repairing and maintaining the National Museum of Natural History’s air conditioning systems crucial to the preservation of its exhibits and ease of visitor access. Under the agreement, SM also provides comprehensive marketing support to the museum over the next three to enhance promotions for universal access to Philippine cultural and historical artifacts.

“SM continues to work hand in hand with the government to safeguard our national culture and heritage, all for future generations so they may come to know themselves as part of our great and evolving nation,” said Joaquin San Agustin, SM Supermalls Executive Vice President for Marketing.
